Today we take a look at a new podcast titled GDIT TechTalk. Now, if you are active in the Washington, D.C. federal technical community, then you would have an idea about the title. Last year GDIT merged with another large contractor called CRSA. It seems like an attempt to bring the two monsters together.
However, if you are just looking for a podcast to listen to, you would undoubtedly be chagrinned at the assembled letters of G, D, I, and T. If this podcast is targeted for employees, then they should say so in the description. If it is for a general audience, then work on the title and description.
The classic formula for a podcast is to have a moderator who sets the stage and adds continuity to the production. The other option is called moderator by committee. This style was exhibited in the podcast. Who knows what will happen with the next podcast.
The good news, when one employee of a company interviews a fellow worker, we usually see a disaster – this wasn’t the perfect storm in the first offering. The discussion seemed heavily technical. It looks like the second podcast has two other people and someone from the first podcast. A moderator by committee is never a good strategy.
No reviews or ratings for the podcast on Apple Podcasts. One would think that a company with 350,000 employees could get a review or two. It looks like the company has tried to promote the podcast on Twitter with a hashtag, but the podcast doesn’t have a separate presence.
This podcast is a candidate for a concept called “podfade.” GDIT should apply some of its vaunted project management skill set and set up some distribution mechanisms, add some images, and a better description of the podcast Add some energy and put the podcast in perspective, and we may that the start of something.
