Today we take a look at a podcast from Government CIO Media called “The Agile Advocate.” The Show Notes page has a good look with clean graphics and the audio is good. It sure looks like they are trying for a monthly podcast. Generally speaking, most popular podcasts don’t let listeners wait four weeks for the next episode.
In blogging we are taught not to write in blocks; the same is true in verbal communication. It seemed like the moderator was so serious that he was speaking in long paragraphs.
This podcast must get all its listeners from the CIO email list, because they aren’t doing anything to promote it. For example, the interview with the Chief Software Office for the Air Force really hits on current topics – everything from Kubernetes to vendor lock-in. Thousands in the federal IT community would have interest, but the episode is not promoted.
Show notes are weak, no Twitter handle, no call to action, no transcript. Those are the obvious flaws. The description on Apple Podcasts is extremely short and not very informative – it does not give the name of the moderator. No reviews on the Apple site as well.
FREE & LIVE 50 MINUTE WEBINAR, “HOW TO PROMOTE A PODCAST”
Looks like a print publication is dipping its toes into audio, without knowing how a podcast works.
Kind of like having good building materials and building something hidden in a cave.
